Enquiry Evaluation's Institutional Climate and Inclusion Assessment (ICIA) was developed in consultation with educator-researchers and school-based diversity directors to help institutions understand student perceptions of school climate, identify the degree to which an institution is inclusive and equitable for diverse stakeholders and, ultimately, recommend strategies for realizing a campus environment that is positive, equitable, inclusive, caring, and academically supportive for all students. Research informs us that students who are in comfortable and inclusive institutions are more likely to meet their academic and future potential. Evaluation is an essential component to diversity, equity, and inclusion work because it forces institutional introspection, creates and conveys a sense of deliberation and seriousness about equity, aligns constituencies around common goals, and uncovers the unknown about stakeholders' experiences. Climate assessments are not new to the education field, but a focus on equitable and inclusive school environments and the nuanced experiences of diverse groups has, thus far, been lacking. Enquiry Evaluation seeks to fill this gap. Our assessment is easily administered by any K-12 school or postsecondary institution in the country. We work with institutional administrators throughout the assessment process. We take the time to explain the data and work toward a roadmap for future planning. |
